Jasmine de Vries’ photos are inspired by statements about her and events in her life. She stages and rearranges these in her images into outspoken confrontations and opinions about seemingly ordinary daily affairs. As a result of these statements and events, a concept for a photo slowly emerges. During this process she constantly adds figurative, theatrical elements to the image. And thus does not make a literal documentary representation, but an atmospheric intuitive scene, picture or experience.
The viewer is thus involved in the image and can therefore give it his own interpretation and establish a connection with what the photo represents. The staged image offers possibilities to recall your own memories and to arrive at a new reality.
